Property Taxes

Effective July 1, 2015, the Middlesex property tax rate is .57 cents per $100 of valuation on real  and personal property located inside the city limits of Middlesex.  In addition,  the Middlesex Fire District Tax is .10 cents per $100 of valulation.  The Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department is an independent organization, and not a department of the town.  Personal property must be listed with the Nash County tax office by January 31st of each year to avoid a late listing penalty.  You may call the Nash County Tax Listing Office at (252) 459-1218 or (252) 459-9816 to request the necessary forms to list or ask questions regarding listing of property.  Nash County Tax Office Website Link is www.tax.co.nash.nc.us

Effective July 1, 2012, Nash County began billing and collecting all property taxes for the town.  Your tax bill from Nash County will list Nash County tax, Town of Middlesex tax, and Middlesex Fire District tax separately.

Taxes are due September 1st of each year and interest is added on January 6th of the following year.

All payments must be remitted to Nash County Tax Collector to the address which appears on your tax billing or you can pay in person at the Nash County Tax Office located in the Administration Building in Nashville, NC.     We can no longer accept tax payments at the Town of Middlesex office.
